An Enzo Fernandez double inspired Chelsea to a massive 3-2 win over Brighton on Sunday afternoon with Levi Colwill also netting his first goal for the Blues.
After last weekend’s heavy 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United, returning to winning ways was imperative and despite Conor Gallagher’s red card, the Chelsea defence held strong to move back into the top half and secured their first home league win since August 25th.
A midweek fixture against Manchester United awaits and here are five things to takeaway from the Brighton encounter.

Regardless of some very poor performances from individuals, three important points were picked up by the Blues against a testing opponent. Back into 10th spot and two points below West Ham in ninth.

Fernandez has been criticised lately which appeared odd since he has been putting in good performances, but it’s always been about him not scoring goals or giving assists. Well, now he’s put that to rest and Chelsea fans can enjoy him without all that noise from rivals.

Calls for Mauricio Pochettino to sort Chelsea’s disciple problem will only grow. Two red cards for two captains is honestly quite embarrassing. Maybe giving the armband to Thiago Silva for a while or something needs to be done behind the scenes.
O Monstro back to his best against Brighton
Silva was superb today, like most times, if not all the time, he dropped an absolute clinic. Having six successive duels won out of seven, 100% aerial duels and that last minute slide tackle in the box to block that pass getting to Joao Pedro, is testament to his ability. He keeps on proving himself again and again that even at this age, he still is one of the finest defenders in the league.
Big Ben strikes the right notes for Chelsea
A big performance from the French centre back. He has been a solid presence since arriving in West London and is becoming a crucial player for the Blues. The team’s defensive performances haven’t been the best without him, but with him we’ve been solid defensively especially in set pieces/crosses as we saw against Brighton.
