Chelsea Players as Game of Thrones Characters

Still no football. Still more blogs to write. This time it’s one of the best teams in the world as characters from one of the greatest shows (barring your opinions on the last season). Enjoy as West London meets Westeros!

**Potential Spoilers Ahead if you somehow haven’t seen all of Game of Thrones**

Kepa Arrizabalaga as Ygritte

One of the most memorable characters who gave us a ton of great scenes and story lines. Perhaps taken from us too soon when the world wanted to know what potential this character could have. Being part of the Free Folk, no one could tell Ygritte what she could do. No laws or rules she made up her own mind and let everyone know. Try subbing her off before penalty kicks against Manchester City.

Cesar Azpilicueta as Samwell Tarly

While they don’t have the same build, they share many similar attributes. Loyal, honest, faithful and determined. Someone who looks fear in the face and goes for it anyway because it’s the right thing to do. A behind the scenes leader. Someone who has taken down true enemies like White Walkers and Thenns. Cesar and Samwell both remain loyal to their friends and do whatever it takes to make sure they are well protected.

Marcos Alonso as Theon Greyjoy

Do we like Theon? Did he do enough to redeem himself in the end? He was pretty useful at first, then was pretty crappy, then sort of got what he deserved, then oh my by the beard of Zeus NO ONE deserves that, then aww maybe he isn’t so bad after all. So, which is it? Do we judge on the good or the bad? The goals he’s scored, or the atrocious defensive mistakes made. The answer lies within.

Emerson as Ellaria Sand

Sort of a background character, but one certain fans always loved to see when she came on screen. A badass warrior type who had a certain set of skills, but also weaknesses her enemies knew how to expose. In the show she was used more or less to drive certain plots forward. When they needed and extra boost they introduced Ellaria to shake things up and hopefully try something new that would work. In the end it wasn’t bad, a good way to have someone new in a certain position, but ultimately, we moved on from her and barely even batted an eye. Seriously did you guys even know she died in Season 8? Apparently, she was crushed by the Red Keep when Daenerys took King’s Landing. I have a feeling in a few years we’ll look back at Emerson and say “Oh wow didn’t even realize that guy is still playing at Sampordia, huh”

Antonio Rudiger as Stannis Baratheon

A hardened warrior. Has seen his fair share of ups and downs. Some people truly believed he was the man to take them forward. To take on the mantle passed down from him from those before and be a true heir. Some things don’t work out the way they were supposed to though. Next thing you know you’re losing your throne to some kid and you don’t know which way is north.

Kurt Zouma as Robert Baratheon

Known as a fighter. Maybe not the best leader, but someone who won’t go down without a battle. You can count on him in the battlefield. Strong and powerful even at his young age, was able to take down an empire.

Andreas Christensen as Brienne of Tarth

Yes, some of these characters will be girls. Get over it. Brienne is one of, if not the toughest warrior in the Seven Kingdoms. Going up against any opponent with no fear. She had no fear going up against some of the toughest male warriors and Andreas has no fear going up against some of the best strikers at a young age. They both kick ass too and in the end Brienne was knighted for her acts, just as one day, I hope, Andreas will be knighted by the Chelsea faithful.

Fikayo Tomori as Grey Worm

Grey Worm was raised in Astapor to one day be an Unsullied warrior. Fikayo was raised in Cobham to one day be a Chelsea warrior. Both lived up to expectations. Grey Worm was set free and chosen to lead the free army of Unsullied. Fikayo has also now been chosen and in a way, set free, to show his true potential. Young, slim and strong these men will do anything it takes to prove their worth both on and off the battlefield.

Reece James as Bronn

A true fan favorite. Fans all over loved Bronn’s witty comments and humor. Just go look at Chelsea twitter if you want to see love for Reece James. While both loved there is no doubt that they are absolutely incredible at what they do. Bronn is the best sell sword Westeros has ever seen and Reece is set to be one of the best right back the world has ever seen. Both these men are fierce fighters and competitors, but they also have a loveable side to them as well.

Ross Barkely as Gendry Baratheon

First few seasons we thought Gendry would be a major character in this show. There was something about him. A hidden potential only a few could see. While he remained important to certain viewers to others he was just another character that came and went. In the end though he proved to be an important secondary cast member. Important in just a few occasions, but they were enough to hype the crowd up. While Ross hasn’t become everything he was once thought to be, he could still play an important role in the Chelsea lineup and has something to prove.

Mateo Kovacic as Sandor Clegane (The Hound)

The Hound is one of the most dangerous people in Westeros. A fierce and powerful warrior once just seen as an overrated bodyguard for King Joffrey. When the world saw his true power though they were in awe. Kovacic has been overlooked by other Premier League midfielders, but his skills are up there with the best. Wise and powerful there is no stopping him on the ball, just like there is no stopping The Hound with a sword. Stamford Bridge’s own hound.

Jorginho as Varys

Quiet and lethal. Both Varys and Jorginho came from far off lands under the supervision of another ruler. Forced to adapt to new rulers both have earned their place and respect amongst lords and fans across the lands. While often not the most outspoken their work is done behind the scenes. Never making the direct assist but laying the groundwork for the building attack. Never using the blade but giving the order to have it used. Wise and cunning both these men use their minds as well as their skills to be a force to be reckoned with.

N’Golo Kante as Tyrion Lannister

Often judged by their size and not their talents both have proven the world wrong. Both Tyrion and Kante have proved it is not the size of the man that matters, but his determination in what he is doing. One helped win a World Cup, one helped win an Iron Throne. Always seen as the brains of the operation when people see what they can do their size is just a forgotten number and you can only admire what they are capable of.

Mason Mount as Oberyn Martell

Quick, cunning, decisive, skillful. Qualities that define both young Mason and Oberyn Martell. Both seemingly coming onto the scene quickly to claim what is theirs. Mason to be the next great English Chelsea midfielder and Oberyn to avenge his family. Both have immense skill and are respected at their craft. Mason dribbling with pace and Oberyn with his spear strike fear into the hearts of opponents. Oberyn uses his brain along with his force to make him a deadly adversary while any good midfielder will tell you using your head and seeing a few passes ahead makes a good midfielder, great.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Jon Snow

Often one of the forgotten members who lived in Winterfell and, like many others this season, Ruben is also a product of Cobham. However, he was been sent north to recover from a gruesome injury. Both set to be forgotten, but then against all odds both literally and figuratively come back from the dead. Setting their sights on the big picture and becoming the man and player they were born to become. Jon a true legend of fire and ice and Ruben a true Chelsea blue who defied the odds to become a Stamford Bridge legend.

Billy Gilmour as Brandon Stark

Young, wise, powerful and little did we know but a soon to be ruler. While at first glance he seems to be just a kid, his journey transforms him into much more. The ability to see through time and time passes perfectly. The ability to be in multiple places at once and cover all areas of the pitch. The ability to fly and quite impressive pace for a young midfielder. Both were taught by wizards. One stuck in a tree and one a former midfielder turned coach. Both set to rule kingdoms.

Olivier Giroud as Jamie Lannister

Once thought to be the villain, playing for the rivals across the way. Handsome and talented someone that can strike you down with one blow and strike the goal with a scorpion kick. Then we realize there’s more to this guy than meets the eye. He’s not a bad guy. Now he’s joined our team! His past sins are forgiven after what he has done for us. After all is said and done though, both are driven by their true loves. Jamie to do whatever is takes to get back to Cersei and Olivier taking a seat on the bench just to be with his true love, the game.

Willian as Davos Seaworth

Maybe not the most important character, but a loyal one. Does his job when it is needed and does it right. Never really gets all the glory but is fine with that because his orders were clear. Will follow you based off what is right, not what is easy. Also, both have been a key player in securing some very important victories. Ones that true fans will never forget them for.

Pedro as Jorah Mormont

Again, seen as someone truly loyal to the cause they believe in. Not always the strongest, but there when the work needs to get done. A true friend to all they have served. Both Pedro and Jorah have been around the block and their journeys have been extensive. Being there for big battles and protecting and defending what they really love.

Michy Batshuayi as Daario Naharis

Once we thought this character was going to be a huge addition to the show. Comic relief, sort of a badass and excellent and finishing the job. Sound familiar? After a while both kind of fizzled out and we sort of forgot about them. One the squad it seems there is no room for Michy at this point and Daario was literally left behind on another continent rather than being taken west to complete their conquest. It seems as if Michy will have a similar fate if he departs this season and Chelsea begin their conquest of Europe.

Christian Pulisic as Robb Stark

When his father was killed Robb marched south to avenge his family name. When Eden Hazard left Christian was seen to be the heir of the throne. Both very young and talented when word spread of their arrival fear trickled across the nation. When Captain America comes to town, teams prepare. When the Young Wolf comes to town, armies prepare. While skillful and smart there is still something that needs to be added to their game, but their lessons will be learned in time.

Callum Hudson-Odoi as Arya Stark

Another young member we first thought wouldn’t amount to much. However, in time they proved to be lethal weapons. Both trained with the best in the business to hone their skills into being a true warrior. Even at a young age we realized they were meant for greatness. Quick, agile and a deadly final strike both Callum and Arya surprise you with their talent. One defeated a king, now it’s Callum’s turned to take on the best and most dangerous.

Tammy Abraham as Tormund Giantsbane

Tall, strong, powerful. Can finish you off with a single blow (looking at you Arsenal). Both Tammy and Tormund are up for any battle no matter the opponent and they will always show up and get the job done. Both have come into their own as true fan favorites and a place ranked among the best. They strength and stature make it impossible to prevent them from accomplishing what they want. Both may not have great leadership qualities, but you definitely want them up top during the fight.
